Studies by the University of the West of Scotland found that women with a prominent, sharply raised ‘tubercle’ on their top lip — commonly known as a Cupid’s bow — are 12times more likely to reach orgasm through sex alone.
Ninety-five per cent of those with a well-defined tubercle said they could reach orgasm via sexual intercourse alone, but only 60 per cent of those with a less well-defined tubercle were able to boast the same.
Still, those of us lacking in the tubercle department shouldn’t be too downhearted, since the same study also found that lip shape had no influence on a woman’s ability to orgasm via other methods. ‘If you’re already having orgasms through sex alone, then great,’ says Paula Hall, sex therapist with Relate. ‘But what really matters within a fulfilling sex life is trust, openness and communication.’
And if that doesn’t work? Well, there’s always lip liner...
