Magic Ingredients For Younger Looking Skin

Açai Berry
You know about anti-oxidants, right? You should—they fight the skin damage cause by sun, pollution, and other environmental factors. And the extract of this berry contains one with serious potential.

One study found that its antioxidant ability was "by far the highest of any fruit or vegetable to date," when ingested orally. In terms of its potency in a cream, dermatologists are hopeful, but say more study is needed.

Melatonin
The stuff people pop for jet lag could have benefits when slathered on the skin. Melatonin is another antioxidant and possible way to boost collagen. And it's a team player: many studies show that when used with other antioxidants, it helps them penetrate the skin better. So far, it doesn't seem to make you drowsy, but it can irritate dry or sensitive skin.

Activin
Skin doctors are excited about this, a protein that kicks off collagen production to heal wounds. They're thinking that because aging skin is damaged skin, activin might also reduce wrinkles. Avon, the only company using the ingredient now, checked out hundreds of ways to create Activin and discovered a combination of Asian plants they named activinol. According to the company's studies, the plant compound delivered up to a 25 percent improvement in fine wrinkles.

Serpin B3 Inhibitor
Need another reason to stay out of the sun? UV exposure can produce a protein in skin cells called serpin B3, which causes dryness and roughness. But Shiseido has patented a synthetic amino acid, Skingenecell 1P that suppresses it, which makes skin softer. Dermatologists are excited about the ingredient, and have found that products containing it are much more effective than traditional moisturizers.

Snap-8
This jazzily named ingredient is like a milder version of Botox, but in a cream, according to the people who make it. Here's how they put it together: Botox interrupts the release of a neurochemical that makes muscles contract (and wrinkles form). Argireline, the active ingredient in many skin creams that claim to work like Botox, does something similar. Snap-8 is chemically like argireline but about 30 percent more effective, according to the makers. Doctors say While Snap-8 creams won't give you all the benefits of Botox, but still give it the thumbs up: products containing the ingredient do seem to have a gradual relaxing effect.

Tensin
This protein in skin helps connect and anchor cells, but its production drops as the years go by. The logic: if a product can restore the body's tensin, skin will look firmer and younger. Chanel worked with scientists from Harvard to identify a plant compound that they say stimulates our stores of tensin. Outside dermatologists say more study is needed to see whether the compound will have the same effect on skin that it does on cells in a lab.

Genomic Technology
This one isn't an ingredient, it's a whole strategy. Young skin contains proteins (including activin, serpin B3, and tensin) that decrease over time. By identifying the genes responsible for creating these proteins, scientists can formulate ingredients to keep the good stuff flowing. We're still in the beginning stages of utilizing genomic technology, but dermatologists agree: It is the future of skin care.

Aging Makeup Mistakes

THICK FOUNDATION
Heavy makeup is a one-way ticket to looking older than you actually are. Choose a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer, and after you apply it, press a damp makeup sponge into areas where you have wrinkles to soak up any excess. While the less-is-more maxim may seem counterintuitive, the more skin you can see, the better. As long as it is well-hydrated, fresh skin looks much more youthful than an obviously covered complexion.

BASE THAT'S TOO LIGHT
Foundation that's paler than your natural skin tone exaggerates fine lines. Even if you have ivory skin, you need to go a little bit warmer as you get older. Switch to a hue that's one or two shades darker and has luminescent particles. A light-reflective formula makes the skin look like it's glowing.

HEAVY CONCEALER ON DARK CIRCLES
The skin under the eyes gets thinner as we age, making thick cover-up look like concrete. Keep it light and apply it with a brush. The brush distributes the color more evenly. And put it only on dark areas, not under the entire eye.

FACE POWDER ON TOP OF LINES
Powder is fine for reducing shine on the nose and the chin, but on other parts of the face it exaggerates wrinkles and can make skin look too dry. One unbreakable rule applies: Avoid the eye area completely.

BLUSH ON THE APPLES OF THE CHEEKS
It draws attention to sagging skin. Instead, apply color on the highest point on your cheekbones, not too close to the nose, and lift it upward with a brush that's large enough to cover the whole cheekbone. Skip the drama queen shades, too: Colors like wine and cinnamon will only make you look gaunt if you're thin and clownish if you're not.A neutral rose color flatters all skin tones and really brightens things up.

LIPSTICK THAT MIGRATES
Your natural lip line can begin to fade as you age, which makes lipstick more prone to bleeding and feathering. Tracing it with one of the new clear lip liners can help the color stay put.

MAJOR LIPSTICK
Bright colors, dark shades, and anything metallic or iridescent are too heavy for thinning lips. Instead, choose a neutral rose shade. And consider switching from a lipstick to a sheer gloss—it will give you more fullness.

MASCARA ON THE LOWER LASHES
It highlights crow's-feet. And dark circles. And it just generally looks bad. Coat your top lashes with the blackest black mascara you can find—it will make the whites of your eyes look clearer and whiter. It's also best to avoid superthick formulas that don't separate easily. Lashes get dryer as we age, making mascara more likely to clump and fall onto your face. And don't forget your curler. Curling your lashes is the easiest thing you can do to make your eyes look bigger—and therefore younger.

EYELINER ON THE LOWER LASHES
All that does is make your eyes look smaller and draw attention to dark circles.Unless you have really big eyes. Stick to the upper lids—and make the line thicker toward the outer corners, where eyes have a tendency to droop as we age.

SPARKLY SHADOW ON THE OUTER CORNERS
A little shimmer is flattering and keeps eye makeup from looking too stark, but at the outer corners, it magnifies every fine line. Restrict sparkle and shimmer to the inner corners, the centers of the lids, and just on the brow bones.

Hair Damage Turnaround

Turn Down the Heat
Good news: You don't have to completely swear off blow-drying. Just do it right. "Your hair will be much better off if you start blow-drying when it isn't dripping wet," says Boston dermatologist Ranella Hirsch. Blot, don't rub, wet hair with a microfibre which is less damaging than the classic terry-cloth turban. Use a heat-protective spray or serum.

Shampoo Smartly
Hairstylists love to say you can reduce the times you shampoo to three times a week. But if you have fine and/or oily hair, you don't have to walk around looking dirty. Shampoo daily, but thoroughly drench your hair with water before you lather up.Then concentrate on just the hair two inches closest to the scalp, since that's where sebum collects. And rinse really, really well under the coldest water you can stand. (Bonus: This will smooth the cuticle so frayed ends are less obvious.) Stock your shower with products that have the words "anti-breakage, "strengthening," or "renewal" on the label to thicken hair and seal split ends.

Color Sparingly
Semipermanent or permanent dyes—and not just the blonde kind—contain some peroxide, which will break down the waxy protective layer of hair, says . So just give your ends a rest. Apply dye only to the roots and then comb it through the ends in just the last few minutes. Then keep your hair looking fresh longer by using a shampoo and conditioner formulated for dyed hair.

Blow-Dry Gently
Stretching your hair with a brush while you incinerate it with a blow-dryer is not so hot for your hair's health. But you can fight frizz less harshly. A good-quality blow-dryer, dries so quickly that there really isn't time for the hair to overheat. Ditch the big round brush for one with smooth, synthetic bristles. And at least try two things: Don't yank too hard on the hair and keep the nozzle as far away as possible. Two inches would be acceptable .

Straighten Extremely Gently
Repeat after me and your hair will thank you: I will not overexpose my hair to the flatiron. Read the manufacturers' instructions and don't exceed the maximum suggested time. (It's typically about five seconds.) Using a flatiron only once a week and swearing off all but irons with ceramic plates, , helps further. Fans of chemical straightening should consider switching to a keratin treatment, which adds a smooth coating to each strand but doesn't mess with the cortex. (Liquid Keratin 30 Day Straight is a good at-home version.) Just steer clear of anything called "Brazilian straightening"; the treatment may contain dangerous levels of formaldehyde.

Mend Your Ends
If you have the time and money to hit the salon every four weeks, great. Eveyone else? Just get a good deep conditioner. The ingredients aren't that different from those in your daily conditioner, but they're much more concentrated and they leave behind a smoothing film that won't wash off for days. Deep conditioning overnight once a week if the damage is severe—just make sure you place a towel over your pillow.

Easy Slim Down Strategies

1)Weigh yourself daily

Why It Works: Weekly weigh-ins are a staple of many popular weight loss programs, but some studies show that daily weighing can be key to lasting weight loss. When researchers at the University of Minnesota monitored the scale habits of 1,800 dieting adults, they found that those who stepped on every day lost an average of 12 pounds over 2 years (weekly scale watchers lost only 6) and were less likely to regain lost weight. Step on the scale first thing every morning, when you weigh the least. Expect small day-to-day fluctuations because of bloating or dehydration, but if your weight creeps up by 2% (that's just 3 pounds if you weigh 150), it's time to skip dessert.

2)Keep TV viewing under 2 hours a day

Why It Works: TV junkies miss out on calorie-burning activities like backyard tag with the kids; instead, they become sitting ducks for junk-food ads. One study found that adults who watch more than 2 hours of TV per day take in 7% more calories and consume more sugary snacks than those who watch less than an hour a day. Wean yourself off the tube by introducing other activities into your life. Eliminate the temptation to watch between-show filler by recording your must-see programs so you can fast-forward through the ads. Or subscribe to a mail-order DVD service like Netflix, and make a movie the only thing you watch all day.

3) Eat 4 g of fiber at every meal

Why It Works: A high-fiber diet can lower your caloric intake without making you feel deprived. In a Tufts University study, women who ate 13 g of fiber or less per day were five times as likely to be overweight as those who ate more fiber. Experts see a number of mechanisms through which fiber promotes weight loss: It may slow down eating because it requires more chewing, speed the passage of food through the digestive tract, and boost satiety hormones. To get 25 g of fiber a day, make sure you eat six meals or snacks, each of which contains about 4 g of fiber. For to-go snacks, buy a piece of fruit; it's handier than vegetables, so it's an easy way to up your fiber intake. One large apple has just as much fiber (5 g) as a cup of raw broccoli.

4) Sleep at least 7 hours a night

Why It Works: A University of Chicago study found that people deprived of Zzzs had lower levels of the hormones that control appetite. "The research suggested that short sleep durations could be a risk factor for obesity," says James Gangwisch, Ph.D., an epidemiologist from Columbia University Medical Center. Sure enough, his follow-up study of 9,588 Americans found that women who slept 4 hours or less per night were 234% more likely to be obese. The key number for most people is 7 hours or more a night, he says, so set an early bedtime and stick to it.

5) Drink 8 glasses of water per day

Why It Works: Water is not just a thirst quencher--it may also speed the body's metabolism. Researchers in Germany found that drinking two 8-ounce glasses of cold water increased their subjects' metabolic rate by 30%, and the effect persisted for 90 minutes. One-third of the boost came from the body's efforts to warm the water, but the rest was due to the work the body did to absorb it. "When drinking water, no calories are ingested but calories are used, unlike when drinking sodas, where additional calories are ingested and possibly stored," explains the lead researcher, Michael Boschmann, M.D., of University Medicine Berlin. Increasing water consumption to 8 glasses per day may help you lose about 8 pounds in a year, he says, so try drinking a glass before meals and snacks and before consuming sweetened drinks or juices.

6) Stick to an 8-hour workday

Why It Works: A University of Helsinki study of 7,000 adults found that those who'd packed on pounds in the previous year were more likely to have logged overtime hours. Lack of time for diet and exercise is most likely the cause, but it's also possible that work stress has a direct effect on weight gain through changes in hormones like cortisol. Set firm limits on your workday so that when you're done, you still have the oomph to take a bike ride and cook a healthy dinner. To help you stay productive enough to finish on time, set an hourly alarm; when it goes off, deal with your most pressing duties.

7 Things that Men Finds Seductive

Here are the top seven things men find sexy about you :

1.When you slowly lick and bite your lips. When you're talking to a guy, in a subtle way, try to slowly lick and bite you lips. Don't make it too obvious or he'd think you're losing your mind. Just make it look natural. It's one way of making him see that you find him absolutely irresistible as well.Well,I do it all the time subsconciously because I always thought that my lips are a bit dry.I know,I shouldn't do that but it has became a bad habit of mine!

2.When you show a bit of skin. It won't hurt to get a little adventurous with the way you dress. You know you look good in that black little dress - you just need a bit more of confidence to work it. No need to get all self-conscious - it can be annoying and irritating too you know. Put it on and carry yourself well. But not too tarty though. You don't want to look cheap.

3.When you genuinely smile and laugh about his jokes. Most of the prettier girls out there act like snobs and brats especially when they're getting too much attention. Guys get tired and totally turned off with that kind of attitude. Act otherwise. Be genuinely interested and you'll be earning more admirers in no time. But don't overdo it if it's nothing to laugh about. That's what we called fake.Trust me,any fools can tell if you are genuine and men always fall head over heels for it.

4.When you don't look too conscious. Confidence is always the key to successfully get a man to notice you. Being a confident woman who knows how to take control instantly becomes sexier and instantly beautiful in his eyes. So stop fixing your hair and blouse so much.We look our best when we are not so self conscious.Relax and enjoy his company.

5.When you look curious and intrigued. Ask him questions. Guys find it cute when you look curious and intrigued. It's like you're willing to learn lots of things. Take note however, that being curious and intrigued is different from being a nag. So know the difference. It will showed that you are interested when you ask questions.I usually shot one syllable answer when I'm disinterested.

6.When you reach over and touch him without meaning too. Intimacy is a very important part when it comes to building sexual tension. Touch him briefly but constantly and he will be the one getting all intimate with you in no time. Make it look natural and effortless and he'll be turned on to you in an instant. Just don't try to drape all over him like a mink.

7.I know some of you try to act stupid with guys and that's so outdated. When you express yourself, have fun and flirt every once in a while. Make him see that you have brains to go with that pretty face. Intelligence can be sexy too, you know.. And men will definitely flirt back with you no time.

Hope that you can handle the guys after these few tricks.Enjoy!

Beauty Fatals

Lingering in a Hot Shower
When it's ten below outside, it's tempting to turn your morning shower into a half-hour steam-a-thon. But after about 15 minutes, all that heat begins to compromise your skin's lipid layer, a complex of fatty acids that holds in precious moisture. Turn down the heat as much as you can—or at least shorten your shower time.

Ho-Hum Lips
Dark lipstick isn't mandatory the second the temperature dips. The new bright lip colors for spring happen to look great in the winter, as long as you choose a sheer formula.

Haircolor Flub
White-blonde highlights that look perfect in the summer can highlight the wrong things in the winter—such as an ashy, pallid complexion. Same goes for a too-dark single-process. Use these tips to winterize your hair color:

If you're blonde, go more golden and less beige, and ask your colorist to weave both highlights and lowlights throughout your hair for a warmer look.

Light brunettes should consider deepening their hair to a warm chestnut color; dark brunettes, a deep chocolate hue. For both, be sure to ask your colorist for a multidimensional look. If you want highlights, ask for face-framing balayage ones—these hand-painted pieces tend to look more natural on dark hair than do foil streaks.

Amp up red hair with a copper or deep auburn tone—anything but bluish or burgundy, which looks fake. Because red fades quickly, top the color with a clear glaze to seal it.

Don't go more than two shades lighter or darker—dramatic shifts can look severe against pale winter skin.

Not Waterproofing Makeup
Waterproof formulas may seem like a summer-only thing, but when it's particularly windy or biting outside, regular eye makeup can end up running down your cheeks if you tear up. Switch to waterproof mascara and eyeliner, and use a cream shadow topped with a powder of the same color. And if you find that your foundation or blush tends to rub off on your coat or scarf, set it with a little translucent pressed powder before you head out the door.

Hat Head
Our mother told us to wear a hat in winter—and now style experts say the same. To prevent a hat from messing up your hair, make sure hair is totally dry first—if it's even slightly damp, it will dry flattened-out under the hat. Prevent dents in long hair by gathering it into a loop and tucking it under the cap. To maintain volume in hair that's shoulder-length or longer, part it on the opposite side from where you normally do, then flip it back after you take the hat off. And for short hair, as soon as you remove your hat, put a little styling cream or even just water on your fingers, and run them over and under the roots to rough them up

Overbronzing
The Jersey Shore girls sure love to pile on the bronzer. For those of us who prefer a more natural glow, try a body lotion with a low dose of the self-tanning ingredient DHA. For your face, beware of using your summer bronzer, or the result will look as ridiculous as a bikini in a blizzard. Instead, pick one that's no more than one shade darker than your skin tone. Blend it over the apples of the cheeks using a big round brush, then top it off with pink or rose blush

Rough Feet
Sandpaper feet don't exactly say, "Let's cuddle." Not to mention that neglecting your feet all winter just makes it more difficult to whip them into shape for spring. As maintenance, get a pedicure at least every six weeks—or even better, follow this foot-softening routine once a week: Soak your feet in warm, soapy water for 15 minutes, then buff the soles with a foot file . To soften and help seal cracks, slick on an ointment, then wear cotton socks while you sleep.

Frosty Lids
The weather may be frosty—but your eyelids shouldn't be. This time of year, frosted shadow can make your skin look washed-out (or make you look like an ice princess, and not in a good way). Instead, makeup artist Dick Page suggests metallic periwinkle blue and bronze shades as surprising winter choices.

Neglecting Your Hands
One more reason to wear gloves: Forgetting to do so can lead to painfully cracked fingertips and peeling nails. Other hand tips: Since antibacterial hand soaps can be drying, use a mild, creamy one instead, rinse well with lukewarm water, and reapply hand cream every time. Once a week, rub cuticle oil into and around nails to keep them hydrated.

Skipping SPF
The sun's rays still exist in winter—your skin will still absorb them and be slowly damaged over time.Even if you're only outside for a total of 30 minutes, five times per week—such as walking to work or taking a lunch break—over a year, that adds up to 7,800 minutes in the sun.To make sun protection easy, choose a daytime moisturizer with broad-spectrum protection (UVA and UVB) and at least SPF 30.

The Wrong Lip Balm
It's no secret that your lips get more chapped in the winter, but not all balms are created equal: The most important thing is to use one that is viscous, not waxy, so the ingredients penetrate fissures. Stay away from anything with lanolin (especially if you have eczema or supersensitive skin), and, since fragrance is the number-one skin allergen, avoid anything that's heavily scented or tastes like your favorite candy.

Applying Foundation to Flaky Skin
No foundation, no matter how great the formula, looks good on dry skin—in fact, it will just highlight trouble. To keep the skin smooth, exfoliate regularly with a scrub containing gentle beads, and switch to (or add) a rich night cream. Then choose a moisturizing foundation with a dewy or satin (rather than matte) finish—avoid anything powdery

The Wrong Cleanser
Since drying soap lather is even worse for your lipid barrier than hot water, avoid soap-based facial cleansers. In the winter, when there isn't as much moisture in the air, absolutely everyone needs a nonfoaming cleanser.

Easy ways to be sexy for Valentine's Day

Maximize Your Lashes
1. Start by curling your lashes. Gently pinch lashes at the roots and then move along the length, making pulse-like squeezes as you go.

2. Apply mascara by wiggling the wand back and forth at the roots to deposit as much of it as possible before pulling the wand straight up.

3. To make lashes look long and separated, apply three coats of mascara—but comb through the mascara while it's still wet with a clean, dry spooley brush.

Get Smooth Lips
1. Exfoliate: Slather on a lip balm with a touch of alphy hydroxy acid.

2. Moisturize: Apply a creamy balm containing petrolatum, shea butter, hyaluronic acid, dimethicone, or ceramides.Avoid waxy formulas (their ingredients may not penetrate) as well as anything heavily flavored or fragranced (which can make chapping even worse).

3. Add color: Try a tinted balm .

Refresh Your Complexion
Exfoliate once or twice a week with an at-home peel containing glycolic, alpha hydroxy, or salicylic acid.Your skin will look shinier and more taut.

For normal skin: Use a one-step salicylic or glycolic acid peel.

For oily or combination skin: Choose peels meant to be used every day.

For sensitive skin: Use a gentle peel no more than once a week.

Apply Fragrance Like a Pro
Spritz fragrance on your pulse points, which give off heat and release the scent: your wrists, inner elbows, temples, neck hollow, behind the ears, and behind the knees. Apply no more than two drops of perfume, three sprays of eau de parfum, and four hits of eau de toilette. And since, over time, you become desensitized to the smell of a fragrance, resist the urge to pile it on, and stick to the amount you used when you first wore the fragrance.

Get Your Smoothest Shave Ever
Choose a razor with five blades.Once you're in the shower or bath, wait three minutes for warm water to soften hair. Instead of soap (it clogs your razor), use a shaving cream or gel (it creates a smooth barrier between your skin and the blades). In a pinch, hair conditioner or a creamy body wash can work.

For legs: Start above the ankle and work upward in six-inch sections. Rinse the razor between each stroke. To get your knees and ankles, pull the skin taut with one hand and glide the razor with the other.

For underarms: Shave at different angles, since the hair grows every which way. Move the blade upward, then down, then across, rinsing it clean and relathering between strokes.

For the bikini line: Avoid irritation by angling the blade in the direction of hair growth and gently shaving with the grain.

Give Yourself a Flush
Don't underestimate how good blush can make you look. A cream formula looks the most natural, goes on sheer, and is easy to blend. To find your best shade, gently pinch your cheeks and match the blush to the color you get.

Try a Scented Body Oil
For smooth, glowing skin all over, switch from your normal lotion and apply a lightly fragranced body oil.

Keep It Lightweight
In the winter, when skin tends to be dry and dull, less foundation is definitely more.Your face will look much more awake if you can still see your skin, a creamy formula with light-reflecting particles is recommended.Apply it with your fingers, so it can melt into the skin.

Get a Great Wax
There is nothing romantic about getting a bikini wax. Here's how to make the best of it:

Book it: Your hair has to be long enough—about a quarter-inch—for wax to work. Book your appointment accordingly, about every two to four weeks.

Prep your skin: For the closest wax, exfoliate with a body wash containing salicylic acid before your appointment, but don't apply any lotion.

Manage the pain: Pop two Advil an hour before your wax. Ask the waxer to tackle small areas at a time. And if you get red bumps afterward, apply aloe lotion or hydrocortisone cream.

Don't Forget Your Cleavage
The skin on your chest and cleavage has few oil glands and is more susceptible to brown spots. It also happens to be more sensitive, so while your favorite anti-aging cream will work, use it here just twice a week. Plan on showing a little skin? Sweep an illuminating body powder.

Dandruff

The main causes of dandruff are impairment of general health, development of a toxic condition mainly due to taking of wrong foods, constipation, and a low vitality due to infectious diseases.Other factors contributing to this disorder are emotional tension, harsh shampoos, exposure to cold, and general exhaustion.

The use of fenugreek seeds is one of the most important remedies in the treatment of dandruff. Two tablespoons of these seeds should be soaked overnight in water and ground into a fine paste in the morning. This paste should be applied all over the scalp and left for half an hour. The hair should then be washed thoroughly with soap-nut (ritha) solution or acacia concinna.

Diet plays an important role in the treatment of dandruff. To begin with, the patient should resort to an all-fruit diet for about five days and take three meals a day of juicy fruits.

Avoid citrus fruits, bananas, tinned fruits

After the all-fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well-balanced diet, with emphasis on raw foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables. Further short periods of an all-fruit diet for three days or so may be necessary at monthly intervals till the skin's condition improves.

The foremost consideration in the treatment of this disorder is to keep the hair and scalp clean so as to minimise the accumulation of dead cells.

The hair should be brushed daily to improve the circulation and remove any flakiness. The most effective way to brush the hair is to bend forward from the waist with the head down towards the ground, and brush from the nape of the neck towards the top of the head. The scalp should also be thoroughly massaged everyday, using one's finger tips and working systematically over the head. This should be done just before or after brushing the hair. Like brushing, this stimulates the circulation, dislodges dirt and dandruff, and encourages hair growth. Exposure of the head to the rays of the sun is also a useful measure in the treatment of dandruff.

7 Steps to Younger-Looking Skin

It’s never too late to reverse the effects of aging. Start now!

Cleanse up at night
Clear away the day’s debris

Dirt, bacteria, and makeup left on overnight can irritate skin, clog pores, and trigger breakouts. Remove this top layer of grime with a gentle face wash which also allows anti-agers to penetrate deeper for better results. Because oil production dips with hormonal changes in your 40s, cleansing twice daily can dry out your complexion and make wrinkles look more pronounced. To refresh skin in the morning, splash with lukewarm water.

Be UV-obsessed
Skin damage can happen at any time of year

Even 10 minutes of daily exposure to UVA "aging" rays can cause changes that lead to wrinkles and sunspots in as few as 12 weeks. If your moisturizer isn't formulated with a built-in broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen, be sure to apply one daily to block both UVA and UVB rays.

Manage stress
They’re called frown lines for a reason!

Emotional upheavals can make your skin look 5 years older than your chronological age.Constant anxiety increases the stress hormone cortisol, which causes inflammation that breaks down collagen. It also triggers a chain of responses that can lead to facial redness and acne flare-ups. To quell inflammation, eat antioxidant-rich foods such as berries, oranges, and asparagus. When you're feeling tense, Wechsler recommends a few minutes of deep breathing (inhale through your nose, hold for 3 counts, and release through your mouth).

Use a retinoid
If you apply just one topical anti-ager, make it this
Research shows that these vitamin-A derivatives speed cell turnover and collagen growth to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and fade brown spots. Prescription-strength retinoids such as Renova provide the fastest results--you'll start to see changes in about a month. To help skin acclimate to any redness and peeling, apply just a pea-size drop to your face every third night, building up to nightly usage. Milder OTC versions (look for retinol) are gentler, although it can take up to 3 months to see noticeable results.

Update your routine
Refresh the products you use — and your complexion

Altering even one thing in your regimen every 6 to 12 months jump-starts more impressive improvements in tone and texture. When you apply products consistently, your skin slides into maintenance mode after about a year. To keep it primed for rejuvenation, substitute a cream that contains alpha hydroxy acids for your prescription retinoid twice a week to boost the benefits.

Eat omega-3s
They make you smart, they make you beautiful, what’s to lose?

These "good fats" in foods such as salmon, flaxseed, and almonds boost hydration, which keeps skin supple and firm. The same isn't true of the saturated fat in dairy products and meats, which increase free-radical damage that makes skin more susceptible to aging. Limit saturated fat intake to about 17 g daily.

Exercise regularly
Here’s a little extra motivation to burn calories

Studies find that women who work out regularly have firmer skin than similar non-exercisers. The reason: Exercise infuses skin with oxygen and nutrients needed for collagen production. To keep your skin toned, make time for at least three 30-minute heart-pumping workouts per week.

Lemon Zest Chicken Breasts

4 tsp olive oil
2 large chicken breasts
juice and zest of 1 lemon
1/3 C fresh parsley
1/3 C fresh mint
1/3 C fresh basil
Salt and pepper
1/3 C white wine

Directions
1. Heat 2 Tbsp olive oil in an oven-proof skillet on high heat. Place the chicken in the skillet and sear for 2 minutes per side. While the chicken cooks, put the remaining 4 tsp oil, along with the lemon juice, zest, and herbs, into a blender or food processor and pulse until well mixed. Place the skillet with the chicken in a 400°F oven to roast for 8 minutes. Remove the skillet from the oven and place the chicken on a plate. Season with salt and pepper, then pour the wine into the skillet, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Add the herb sauce to the skillet and cook on the stove top for 1 minute, stirring frequently. Pour the sauce over the chicken.

Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients
6-10 eggs
2-3 cups grated cheddar cheese
6 slices bread, cut into cubes
2 cups milk
Salt
Pepper

Additions
1 cup corn (cooked or frozen)
1/2 cup chopped broccoli
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1 cup cubed ham and/or cooked Italian sausage
A few slices cooked bacon, chopped
1 teaspoon herbes de provence, or other dried herbs, or a Tbsp of fresh chopped herbs such as basil, rosemary, or thyme
13 x 9 inch casserole dish

1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Beat the eggs in a large bowl. Mix in the milk and cheese. Add the bread and carefully stir until all pieces of bread are moistened (don't over mix or the bread may disintegrate). Add additions. Add salt and pepper to taste (if using Italian sausage, you won't need either.) Butter a 13 x 9 inch casserole dish. Pour mix into casserole dish.

2 Bake in oven for 50 minutes to an hour, until the top is browned and the center springs back when touched. Remove from oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

How To Spot A Fake Scent

TAKE A CLOSER LOOK. If the liquid looks too pale, it could be an alcohol-heavy phony. If it's too dark, it could consist of impure or faux ingredients.

BE A LABEL CONNOISSEUR. If the label is off-kilter, smudged, poorly printed, or misspelled, it's not legit. If the bar code or an identifying mark looks sketchy, it could be a phony.

BUY RIGHT. Top-quality perfumes are sold at department stores, beauty specialty stores such as Sephora, and sometimes high-end boutique pharmacies and apothecaries.

DON'T BE FOOLED. Real fragrances are not sold on tables in tourist hot spots or at flea markets, supermarkets, discount stores, or out of the back of a truck.

BEWARE THE BAIT AND SWITCH. Some unsavory vendors will display the genuine fragrance up front when you're shopping but substitute a fake when handing over your purchase.
