Three Secrets for Camera-Friendly Makeup
1. Be extra careful with undereye concealer. If your concealer looks lighter than your skin, it'll look even lighter in the flash. For a picture-perfect match, "you can also blend a drop of your foundation into your concealer," says Soleimani. "If you're very dark under your eyes, use a concealer then layer your foundation on top."
2. Tone down your lips. Super glossy lips can look garish and harsh when the flash goes off. Instead, use a matte formula such as Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella (a deep red) or Dolce Vita (a rosy neutral).
3. Glow, don't shine. "To avoid a dull, powdery complexion, control oil with blotting papers," says Westman. "Keep your T-zone super matte, but keep your upper cheekbones or the bridge of your nose more luminous because you want that youthful glow," says Soleimani.
